DRESSIN Temporary filling material
INTRODUCTION Dressin is a temporary Zinc Oxide based Filling material, which is ready for use as it does not require any pre-mixing or pre-activation. On contact with saliva these material begin to harden. After approximately 15 minutes of placing in the tooth cavity, the putty would have sufficiently hardened to withstand normal eating/chewing pressure.
INSTRUCTIONS Remove small amount of Dressin from jar Pack into prepared cavity using moderate pressure. The paste will begin to set once it comes in contact with saliva. Advise patient not to bite or apply pressure for at least 15 minute.
MODE OF ACTION By virtue of it’s setting mechanism this is slightly water-soluble while it is in a pliable putty form, but once hardened it can be considered as being practically water insoluble. Therefore after placing in mouth, it is important the dentist tries to reduce over- salivation on that side of patient mouth, and also advice patient not to continuously rub tongue over the placed material. Both these action will reduce the chance of putty being washed away.
INDICATIONS Dressin is especially recommended for the filling of retentive cavities. Normal recommendation is 1 to 2 weeks of temporary cover, but obviously this time is great dependent upon type of cavity and of patient compliance.
STORAGE: Store at normal room temperature in sealed form
