B.S.6039:1981 TYPE 2 I.S.O. 7489: 1986 TYPE 2
This is a

other opaque, glass ionomer liners with composites.
INDICATIONS:
Restoration of cervical erosion areas, root caries and restoring deciduous
cavities. Restoring class III and V cavities (alone or with a composite
overlay) fissure filling. It can also used as a liner in conjunction with
composite restorative materials, i.e. the ‘Sandwich’ technique for anterior
restorations.

MIXING DIRECTIONS:
Before each use,
fluff powder by inverting bottle several times. Using the scoop, place a level
scoop of powder onto the mixing pad. Repeat as required.
Divide into 3 equal
portions on mixing pad.
To ensure uniform
drops of liquid, hold the dispensing bottle in a vertical position, squeeze
gently and release after each drop separates. Dispense required number of
liquid drops onto mixing pad. Wipe with a damp napkin to prevent clogging of
nozzle.
Using a plastic
spatula, incorporate one of the three portions of powder into the liquid. Mix
in successive portions until the material reaches a homogenous composite like
consistency. Mixing should be completed in 30 seconds.
Follow appropriate
application techniques.
Coat restoration
with two layers of varnish.
TECHNIQUE
INSTRUCTIONS WHEN USED ALONE:
Excavate decay
and/or prepare and clean stained area to be restored with pumice or all free paste
(oil contain formulation or Prophy Paste will interfere with bonding).
Mechanical retention should be provided by dovetailing or other means.
NOTE: Rubber dam or
retractor should be used to prevent moisture contamination.
Place Calcium
hydroxide over all pulped or near pulped exposure areas only.
Apply a glass
ionomer conditioner or other Polyacrylic acid containing liquid with cotton
pledged fro 10 seconds.
If present, acid
etch enamel area for one minute, rinse and dry (optional).
Mix Carefil-PL
according to instructions.
Place and contour as
required over the previously prepared decayed or eroded areas. This procedure
is similar to the use of composites and silicates. Where a stainless steel
matrix band is used this should be very lightly coated with Vaseline; plastic
strips can also be used. The initial setting time for Carefil-PL is 4 minutes
30 seconds.
Immediately cover
the restoration with varnish.
Wait 10 minutes from
the time of placement before finishing and polishing with fine diamond or other
rotary type instrument.
Apply another layer
of varnish.
EROSIONS, ABRASIONS,
LESIONS.
All stains are
removed by polishing with Prophy Paste and if caries are present they should be
excavated and lined. The conditioner is
applied via cotton pledged for 30 seconds. The cavity is then washed and dried
ready to receive restoration.
FISSURE FILLING:
The fissures are
opened to a depth of 2mm, remove caries etc., wash and dry and then carry out
fissure filling as normal using the mix recommended. Finishing and polishing
can be accomplished after 7 minutes. Mixing on a cold glass slab will prolong
working and setting times.
CATIONS:
Liquid is adhesive
and contains Polyacrylic acid. Spatula and instrument should be wiped clean
before setting.
Wash spillages
immediately.
In case of contact
with skin/eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice
if necessary.
Powder is very fine,
may give rise to dust, however it is recommended that the lid should be
replaced immediately after use or between uses.
STORAGE: Store at
normal room temperature in sealed form.
